The first Mr. Softee truck spotted today on the north side of Washington Square Park.
This may in fact be the only Mr. Softee truck in New York. Once there were lots more that roamed the City playing a mechanical noisemaker that made people violent. Now, there is just this one. We don't allow it to make noise. It has shown up in the same spot, at the same time every year for years. Maybe it travels to other neighborhoods so people think there are lots of them. Have you ever seen more than one in the same place?
Think about it.
A while back there also used to be newspaper stories every summer describing stuff the Health Department found growing inside Mr. Softee trucks. Folks inside the truck sell something that looks like ice-cream. I have never tasted it. Nobody I know has, either. I think this truck is part of some conspiracy. But it is also one of the first signs of Spring in my neighborhood, so I guess that’s OK.
Viagra sponsors a NASCAR racing team. Wouldn’t it be cool if Mr. Softee also sponsored one?
