A Sign Of The End Of Days?

Behold: Pastrami with American Cheese, Lettuce,Tomato & Mayo

"And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Well, blame it on the early imminent arrival of Yom Kipper that's got me quoting Scripture. Then again, the sign (it s a real sign, in front of a real – alleged – eatery in Manhattan) brought me back to my first solo trip across America back in another time, having thumbed my way from NYC to Berkeley. I remember sitting in a sandwich shop there, looking over a menu that included a pastrami sandwich, cheese ,25 extra.

In that moment I knew to my core that I was indeed far, far from home.
