Pete Seeger............ Turn, Turn, Turn...............



April 15, 1967: Despite the rain, nearly a million people marched from Central Park to the United Nations to protest the war in Viet Nam.  Dr. Spock and Dr. King lead the march.  Pete Seeger sang.  I shot this photo of Pete as he waited to go on stage in front of that crowd at the United Nations Plaza.  I don't really remember the speeches or exactly what Pete sang, but I can never forget that Pete was our voice. I figure he probably walked a million miles and sang a million songs. The  world followed him and we all sang along and some where along the line, the lucky ones learned that to everything there is indeed a season.

This morning's news announced that Pete had passed away.  He was 94.   


Ps:  A newspaper editor in Norway contacted me right after this was published.
 Wonderful to know that Pete will be remembered by so many people all over the world:
