A truly beautiful day in New York City:
after a week of 90+ heat and humidity, we got the kind of
weather that actually lowers the crime wave because it has been just too hot for most folks to get pissed off enough to hit someone. I get along fine in the heat, so for me today was also a fine
day to hit someone. I opted instead to use it to walk around and enjoy the City. I bought a pack of hacksaw blades on 23rd Street at Home Depot. I don't like shopping there, but since they opened, three of our neighborhood hardware stores have closed. One guy who used to work at one of those stores now works there and we got to chat about our mutual pratfalls. On the walk back downtown and I got to stop at the our local farmer's market in Market in Union Square, which is always a much better place to shop. Smells lots better than Home Depot too. For the first time all week, it is going to
be a comfortable enough evening to actually cook. Maybe hamburgers
tonight. Got a couple of fine ripe tomatoes and some green stuff
for a salad. A fine, easy day.
Ps: Of course, it couldn't last. Am I the only one who is annoyed at how NBC kept interrupting the Coke and BMW commercials with shots of the Olympic opening ceremonies?
