Folsom
Street East, part of New York City's Gay Pride Week or month or whatever it is this
year. I have photographed this event lots of times over the years.
Several thousand people show up. It used to be held further downtown
in the West Village, near the Hudson River. That used to be an
industrial area: lots of warehouses, a few odd businesses, clubs that
opened after midnight and some artists living in cheap lofts. Now it
is an upscale neighborhood and the new residents keep complaining, so
each year the event moves a bit farther north. I still don't get
most of it, but I love the graphics and the crowd is friendly. It was
a nice day.
