Paul Revere's Ride.

I Google my own name every once in a while. You probably do too, even if you won't admit it. Today was such a day, particularly since I am stuck at home waiting for a plumber. My building is over a hundred years old. I think the original builder bought the plumbing pipes second hand. Anyway, Google. When ever I punch my name in, I am (almost) always amazed at the stuff that comes up. Fortunately, my professional web site is usually at the top of the list. This is important on account of this is what I would hope potential clients would find. Scrolling down we find the other stuff. Lots more other stuff. Someone once explained to me that search engines pick up words, and since my name has appeared thousands of times I print, mostly in the smallest possible type as a photo credit line, these are the references that pop up first.

Click on the subheading of “Images for Maury Englander” and pages of photos come up. Most of the commercial and advertising photos I shoot are published without a credit so they don't show up. The photos that do are mostly from that 'parallel universe' of my other published work: things like political demonstrations from the 1960's, blog shots and most prolific of all – at least according to Google – my tattoo shots. What is strange is that there doesn't appear to be any order, chronological or other wise as to what shows up and where.

Like in the screen shot below, the top row has a shot of Norman Mailer I did at an anti war demonstration in Central Park in 1964.  Next to him is a lady at festival in a little town in Mexico shot a couple of years ago. Below those is one from a memorial for my friend Mike two weeks ago, next to my 'Columbia Kid' vintage 1968. Go figure.

(By the way, you can click on any photo in this blog to see a full screen version of it. We live in an age of wonder, indeed.)

Anyway, today, being the anniversary of Paul Revere's Ride, I thought I'd share today's  Me According To Google:
